Paradises Lost was a world premiere opera production. It explores the world of the Novela Paradises Lost by Ursula K. Le Guin. To recreate the story of this generation ship's voyage the design team sought to create a world where utility had to meet comfort. Where light and media could come from any and all angles. Then break from this to the revelation of a new world and explore how harsh daylight can be when you've never experienced it before. Finally, when exploring the wilderness for the first time how does that environment become inviting after so long in a safe and controlled setting.
